Enrichment

Sacred Heart Sixth Formers have the opportunity to participate in a variety of enrichment activities alongside their rigorous academic curriculum.

Enrichment comes under many different categories, for example, our Sixth Formers help our local community (and beyond) by participating in charitable activities such as:

  • Volunteering at a local soup kitchen
  • Tea Dance for the elderly
  • Christmas Hamper campaign
  • Variety of activities during Charity Week (anything from participating in Bridge Walk to selling cakes and planning and running Sacred Heart Has Talent)
  • Thailand Trip to Pattaya Orphanage

Also, our Sixth Formers have the opportunity to immerse themselves in school life by:

  • Running and participating in the School Council
  • Mentoring younger students
  • Being members of the school band or choir (and therefore, participating in our school productions)
  • Taking part in House events
  • Participating in the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award
  • Following a weekly session in an activity on a rotating half termly basis. Some of these activities include ceramics, futsal, business acumen, environmental activism and boxing.

We also direct our pupils to participate in activities that will enhance their learning:

  • Raising Aspiration Morning
  • Business Breakfast
  • Summer School (e.g., UCL, Imperial, Sutton Trust, Geema)
  • King's College Mentoring Scheme
  • Study Skills workshops
  • Work experience

Our pupils are encouraged to apply to good universities and we promote that by:

  • Attending the UCAS conference
  • Sussex University Trip (with personal statement workshops)
  • Applying to Oxbridge workshops
  • UCL University Trip
  • Futures Week- learning how to write good personal statements and completing UCAS applications

Our aim is to ensure, therefore, that our Sixth Formers receive a well-rounded education that can then be used for successful university applications.
